Smoky Mountain Rodeo Association (SMRA) was seated with the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) in July of 2003,
becoming IGRA's twenty-fourth member association. Currently, twenty-eight such associations produce at least
eighteen sanctioned rodeos each year, including International Finals.
SMRA is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that promotes education and enjoyment of the western lifestyle and the production of fundraising
events with the commitment to raise funds for charitable organizations within our community. Since its inception, SMRA
has raised and distributed funds for organizations that care for and seek cures for those living with HIV/AIDS, as
well as Children's Services, Animal Welfare, and other organizations that focus on social issues within our society
as a whole.
Come Join Us! – You don't have to be a cowboy or cowgirl to saddle up with us. Sometimes people say things
like "I don't ride anymore" or "I don't have a horse" but the plain fact is that everyone can
still be a part of our organization. At our Play Days, there are lots of events in which both
experienced hands and novices can participate. And even if you don't want to rope and ride,
we have barbecues, dances and get-togethers at other rodeos. Just come out and have some
fun with a great bunch of folks!
