Summer Trail Ride was Great Fun
On Saturday, June 6th, 2009, SMRA returned to the Natchez Trace Riding Stables southwest of Nashville for our Spring Trial Ride. We also conducted our monthly membership meeting on site while our hosts rested the horses between riding sessions. 21 Smokys came out for the Trail Ride, including several from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky and Louisville, as well as one new member from Nashville. The weather was beautiful and the camaraderie between our members and our hosts was memorable.Following the Trail Ride, 14 Smokys drove up the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway and had dinner at the world-famous Loveless Café before completing the drive into Nashville for our Rodeo Night at Blue Gene's. SMRA Car Wash and Yard Sale Set for July
SMRA will be holding a Car Wash/Yard Sale on July 18th, 2009 in the parking lot of Lipstick Lounge. We need lots of items for the yard sale and lots of volunteers for both car washing and running the yard sale. Please check your calendars and see if you are free that Friday, July 17th and Saturday, July 18th to help us out. The more volunteers we have the more fun we can make this. SMRA is looking for those members who may be interested in being delegates to the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) 2009 Convention. The Convention will be held from November 12th - 15th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. IGRA convention is where new rules and regulations for IGRA and the upcoming rodeo year are discussed and voted on. It's not all work though, the hosting Association; this year Central Canda Gay Rodeo Association, always puts on a good party for the visiting delegates. Open Positions on SMRA Board of Directors
The position of Secretary and Inventory Chair person are open. The Secretary records the minutes of the Board of Directors meeting, handles SMRA correspondence and maintains the list of Stadning Rules. The Inventory Chair is responsible for selecting, ordering, distribution and sales of merchandise for SMRA and keeps the inventory listing current.
